Gracia de Maria Guitierrez Amerigo

My senora is quite, quite cute.

Whenever we eat she tries to make us eat more, insisting that we eat very little. Today at lunch, I told her that I'm trying to lose a few pounds, and she began talking about how I don't need to, and that Ellen is thinner, and that she can't let me go back to the States and have my boyfriend angry that my senora didn't feed me in Spain.

But tonight, when I sat down to dinner, she pulled my plate over an inch like she always does, and pointed at my food, saying (except in Spanish), "See, it's ham wrapped around turkey, with pureed potatoes. It won't make you fat. And the fruit, it won't make you fat." And she just smiled in this amazingly adorable way that shows that she really cares and thinks about what she does. And every time she gets up to leave the table, she tells Ellen or me to eat more salad or more bread.

I love it here.

Oh Sam, I enjoy reading your and Ellen's blogs. My food issues are quite different as I am presently in charge of most of my meals. Everyone in the house eats at different times which means someone is always cooking and therefore I am always eating, lol. I miss you :)

Glad to hear that you love it there! Did you tell her that you only need to eat 1 meal a month like a tarantula because you never get hungry? In fact, just tell her that you are a tarantulawoman and that your tarantulaman doesn't want you to eat more than about once a month.

Sam, I just caught up with your blog. I can't believe so much has happened already! I'm really glad that you like your host. She reminds me of my grandmother who believes that food=love. Spain definately sounds different from areas in Europe that I have visited, but in a good way. It seems like the people in Spain receive Americans better than most other European countries.

I think tyler wants you to learn to say "tarantula" en espanol.
You forgot to say that she held up one finger and said "What? You are this skinny. Your mom will be angry."
